Investment Accounts
Investment accounts let you track every asset you hold — stocks, crypto, commodities, or foreign currency positions — all in one place, with live market prices updated automatically.
How investment accounts work
When you add an investment account, you select the asset class, search for the specific asset, and enter how many units you hold. Finzen fetches the current market price and calculates the value for you. As prices move, your balances update in real time.
Investment accounts feed into the Portfolio report, where you can see P&L, returns, allocation, and performance over time. They also contribute to your net worth at current market value.
Asset classes
Stocks, ETFs & more
Data source: Yahoo Finance
This class covers the full range of exchange-traded financial products:
- Stocks — equities from global markets
- ETFs — exchange-traded funds
- Index funds & mutual funds
- Futures
Search by ISIN, ticker (e.g. AAPL, VWCE), or by name. If it's on Yahoo Finance, it works with Finzen.
ISIN search is the most accurate — especially for ETFs and funds that share similar names across markets. Ticker works well for widely traded stocks.
Cryptocurrency
Data source: CoinGecko
Search by ticker (e.g. BTC, ETH) or by name. Finzen supports 10,000+ cryptocurrencies — if it's listed on CoinGecko, it works. From blue-chip cryptos like BTC and ETH, all the way to even your random shitcoin, it can be tracked with Finzen.
Physical Commodities
Track physical holdings of precious and industrial metals — not ETFs or futures, but the actual commodity itself.
Supported commodities and their units:
| Commodity | Unit |
|---|---|
| Gold | grams |
| Silver | grams |
| Copper | grams |
| Palladium | grams |
This is designed for people who hold physical bullion — gold coins, silver bars, and similar. Enter the weight in grams and Finzen tracks the current market value.
Commodities priced as financial products (e.g. gold ETFs or futures contracts) belong in the Stocks, ETFs & more class, not here.
Foreign Exchange
Track open forex positions in 150+ international fiat currencies. Each forex account holds a single currency, and its value is automatically converted to your primary currency at the current exchange rate.
This is useful if you hold foreign cash, have multi-currency accounts, or want to track currency exposure as part of your broader portfolio.
Decimal precision
Finzen tracks units at different precision levels depending on the asset class — reflecting how each asset is naturally priced and traded.
| Asset class | Decimal places |
|---|---|
| Crypto | 8 |
| Stocks, ETFs & more | 4 |
| Physical Commodities | 3 |
| Forex | 2 |
| Cash / fiat (default) | 2 |
